Siberian Larch is a more than worthy choice as a solid real wood flooring, with a Janka Hardness of 4,900 N (1,100 lbs/in2), it is a very hard timber although technically it is classified as a soft wood. A great alternative to oak and other softwood flooring. It's versatility and hard-wearing nature has made it popular choice for flooring, and decking (please see our decking page). The slow growth rate due to the cold growing environment gives Siberian Larch exceptionally tight growth rings and a very fine grain. All our Co2 Larch ® is FSC Compliant.

Co2 larch Flooring

Siberian Larch will take a good quality stain or treatment which can enhance and highlight the beauty of this natural product. But can also be left untreated.

Production

We select the finest kiln dried boards, planed to ensure exacting dimension, then fine sanded with 120 grit sandpaper to produce a finish that feels warm and smooth underfoot.

Finishing

The finished boards can have a treatment applied, we recommend Osmo Hardwax-Oil, information please click here (opens in a new window) which is a extremely durable and hard wearing product, resistant to common liquid spillages such as water, juice, tea, cola and wine. It will enhances the wood’s natural character and is microporous giving a breathable finish which does not crack, peel or flake. Osmo also do a range of tints which are also suitable for larch flooring please click here for information (opens in a new window).

Moisture content of timber flooring

We manufacture our products with a moisture content of between 9 and 14%. This actually means that approximately 10% of the wood is water and is well suited to homes in the UK.

Acclimatisation

Co2 Larch ® Flooring stacking bearing

In a finished room (all wet trades have been completed) sealed from the elements and temperature/humidity are at normal habitation levels acclimatisation can take place. NB. It’s important to make sure that the predicted temperature and moisture level have been maintained in the room prior to laying out the flooring for between 10 and 14 days.

We advise sticking and stacking and applying weight to the top layer to hold the timber in place, this allows unrestricted air moment to every surface of the floor board. Planed stacking bearers 20mm X 20mm X 800mm, are available to purchase at £0.76 per bearing ex VAT and delivery. Recommend to be placed no more than 750mm apart and 5 floor boards per layer, For example 40 floor board would require 32 stacking bearers.
